A writer of music and and published author of short stories, John McLean was raised in Missouri then Virginia. After graduating Virginia Commonwealth University, he composed and played music professionally. In addition, selling insurance and investment products has allowed him through the doors of many lives. His works appear in Fodderwing, The Richmond Music Journal, New Millenium, The Door, Shamrocker, The Sonic and an anthology; Great Writers, Great Stories, subtitled Great Writers of Virginia, Maryland and D.C. Poetry featured in One Tree, Many Branches 2001. McLean is into everything from Billy Bragg, the Ramones and Graham Parker to Jimmy Cliff, Sly Stone and Kate Bush. In June, 1999 he had the opportunity to sing and play on Twaine's CD. Currently he is recording with A Liberal Dose for an upcoming CD on mp3.com.
