THE PIXIES The Pixies were one of the most influential bands of the eighties. Their sound was aggressive combining roaring guitars and intertwining male/female harmonies. The Pixies were formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1986 by Charles Thompson a.k.a. Black Francis and his roommate, Joey Santiago. Advertising in a music paper for a bassist who liked "Husker Du and Peter, Paul & Mary," the duo recruited Kim Deal and on her advice recruited drummer Dave Lovering. Some say that without the Pixies' influence, bands like Nirvana would never have reached the same heights of popular acclaim. The Pixies released five classic albums before disbanding in 1993. Black Francis a.k.a. Frank Black currently records and tours with his group, Frank Black & The Catholics. DISCOGRAPHY:
